Well, it's red with a slightly greenish tone to it.

It seems there is some miscommunication here, so let me clear something up.

In response to these two posts:

ArenaNet didn't post a thread anywhere for it, for a very good reason: Viral campaigns are purely audience driven, that is the whole point. They've done some prodding and nudging along the way, but only in response to developments from the community following it.

The simple fact is, as Regina stated, that the GW2Guru community jumped on it a lot faster, and showed way more interest. Now they are reaping the benefits of that, due to having much more of it documented and many more members participating and contributing. For the GWGuru community to turn around now and complain that they don't want to have to go to GW2Guru to find out more is a little hypocritical.

Take the OBEY vs DISMANTLE Recap thread. That was originally put together on GW2Guru, but immediately copied here, to make sure everyone was up to speed and on the same page. The GW2Guru version still has two more pages of discussion that the one here, because the community there is simply more involved.

If you want the benefits of being part of an involved, active community, then be an involved, active community. It really is as simple as that.

It was posted there by Wrath of Dragons, who was given one of the original flyers by Regina.

If it managed to spread from GWGuru off-topic and take off on GW2Guru, why didn't it take off here, where it all began? The difference in attitudes is the simple answer:

GWGuru is a five year old community that revolves around trading, title grind, farming and other day-to-day tasks. The importance of a narrative has been replaced by mechanical day-to-day activities, and generally people only care about events that have an impact on that.

GW2Guru is a community that can only be forward looking right now, and any tiny piece that helps develop the narrative is treated like gold dust. So what if this is strictly a Guild Wars event, it still helps set the scene for Guild Wars 2, and that was enough to motivate their participation.

The problem i see is a lack of proper announcements. The so called "viral campaign" work only if you are interested in a war between those factions, hence many people wont even bother reading about it.

Also, that so calld "campaign" is a fail to provide information, you have to waste time reading a lot of useless meaningless material and try to extract a little bit of information from them. Well, there is ONE place to get information (and to provide it) and thats the official site, i don't care what people say in any forum, i care even less about what could be in any facebook (since i don't waste my time is social networks) and i'm sure i'm not the only one who don't visit such sites.

The fail was simple, the information wasn't at the proper site nor in the proper time.

Lastly, as many have said, gw2 is still to happen, many of us will wait until it is out before spending time there, this is about gw1 so should be in gw1 related sites to say the least. Not to mention all the people who don't participate in forums, are they codemned to live in the ignorance?

That said about the communication failure on part of Anet, i can say i am really dissapointed with the celebration so far, all it seem to be useful for is for those title farmers wanting alcohol and sweets. Lame.

Again, the viral campaign was designed from the start to target the hardcore audience, not the general audience. It was an interesting and fun way to lead up to the War in Kryta, and the future events that are a part of Guild Wars: Beyond.

ArenaNet have been putting this on the main website ever since the bulk of the in-game component was added, and it has been covered by a lot of mainstream MMO news websites. They certainly haven't failed in their communication, and if anything the additional buzz has given it even more exposure.

There was a huge amount of activity around the initial viral build-up, and a lot of people thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm sorry you didn't get to participate, but your own apathy is to blame.

And this is the problem we have when we get spoiled by having things hand-fed to us all the time. I'm having a great time with this and I thank those loyal players that have cracked the codes and posted the info they have found all along the way. I've jumped on the bandwagon and I'm already singing Kumbaya on the way to the bonfire. See you all there!!!

I'm with you!
It took alot of sluething on the part of the dedicated GW fans to unlock alot of the information that was gathered.
The creative #Obey/#Dismantle posters and slogans, made the hunt that much more fun.
Heck, the speculators and 'lore bandits' ran amok with this campaign.
I take my hat off to them, great job...and keep digging for us all!
(All the War in Kryta info was right under our noses, here, and on the official GuildWars.com)

Why all the War in Kryta viral campaign posts in the 5th anniversary thread? lol. Quit going off topic.

As for the 5th anniversary, the celebration isn't even 24 hours old yet. Give it time.

I am anxious to see what Anet has in store for us this year. I liked last years update. I won't get my hopes up. That way whatever we get, I'll enjoy it.

As for the War in Kryta, it appears to be tied into the celebration...

The War in Kryta stuff will be going on for quite a while (months), it's not tied down to the 5th birthday.

Guild Wars: Beyond will be going for months, and War in Kryta is a small part of that, which may or may not be tied in with 5th anniversary.

It is not about apathy, it is about how if you turn on the news channel and all you get is a lot of blah blah blah you don't care and the news are somewhat "hidden" amonth the blah blah blah. Worse of all is that you actually payed for having that channel, so what do you do then? Blame yourself for not being informed because you don't like the gossip not you have time to spend into deciphering the fudge (nor want todo it) or blame the news channel for not doing what they are suposed to do?

I have no desire to be part of an involved, active community, and I couldn't care less about games that haven't been released in any shape or form yet. And don't get me started on viral campaigns, the marketing technique that reduces the consumer to rats excitedly riffling through whatever garbage they can sniff out. Not for me. I guess I'm just turning into a cranky old man or something.

I'd just like to be informed about updates to the game I'm playing, like I've been able to for oh, has it been 5 years already? And when a community manager doesn't post information about a retracted login announcement on a forum for the game it applies to, but on a forum for a game that hasn't been released yet, I can't help thinking that's a rather strange move.

Ah hah. I didn't realize the war in kryta was only a part of GW: Beyond. For some reason I thought it was all the same. Well, then, maybe the WiK is part of the 5th anni.
